I have heard this too many times in the past few months, so I wanted to let people know.  There are people Posing as the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) that are making phone calls to your home.  This is not the IRS, hang up immediately.  The only way that the IRS can contact you is by using the mail (not e-mail) but USPS (not UPS) The united states post office or in the event that they have initially contacted you by mail and they are following up.

These people are looking for information and validation of your address, name and social security.  Although people get very nervous when they hear the IRS, remeber, they are not bad people, they just have deadlines, that does not make them bad.  So what is happening is immediate panic, people give out their information and then they have verified your name, address, social etc, then they either use or sell the information.  This can lead to credit cards, bank accounts etc.  These people will call back numerous times as well.  In the event this is the case just tell them to correspond by mail, and they will get the message.  If you want to see other IRS scams go to www.irs.gov
